FAQs

  • Grooming

How often should I groom my dog?

The frequency depends on your dog’s breed, coat type, and lifestyle. Regular brushing at home helps maintain coat health between visits. We recommend Long-haired breeds are groomed every 4-8 weeks and short-haired breeds every 6-8 weeks.

How long does grooming take?

Typically, a grooming session takes 1-4 hours depending on the size, breed, and coat condition of your dog. Puppies or nervous dogs may require additional time for breaks.

Do I need to book an appointment?

Yes, we recommend scheduling appointments in advance to secure your preferred date and time.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Missed appointments or late cancellations may incur a fee. Full details are on our terms & conditions page.

Do you groom all dog breeds?

We groom most breeds. However, if your dog has special requirements, let us know so we can assess if we can accommodate their needs.

What if my dog has matted fur?

Matted fur may require additional time and care. If the matting is severe, we may recommend shaving for the comfort and safety of your dog. Extra charges may apply for de-matting/shave down services.

What should I do before bringing my dog in?

  1. Ensure your dog has had a bathroom break.

  2. Brush your dog if possible to help with tangles.

  3. Notify us of any medical conditions, allergies, or special needs.

Do you handle anxious or aggressive dogs?

We aim to create a stress-free experience. If your dog is anxious or aggressive, let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate their needs.

What happens if my dog gets stressed during grooming?

We prioritise your dog’s well-being. If your dog becomes overly stressed, we may take breaks or, in rare cases, stop the session and discuss alternative approaches with you.

Are vaccinations required?

Yes, we require proof of up-to-date vaccinations, including rabies, distemper and parvovirus for the safety of all pets and staff. All dogs must also be free of fleas and ticks.

Do you use pet-safe products?

Yes, all of our grooming products are designed specifically for dogs and are safe for their skin and coat.

What should I do if my dog has sensitive skin or allergies?

Let us know in advance. We use hypoallergenic and gentle products to accommodate dogs with sensitive skin. If your dog has a specific product you’d like us to use, just bring it along.

  • Teeth Cleaning

Why is teeth cleaning important?

Regular maintenance teeth cleaning prevents plaque build-up, tartar formation, and gum disease, which can lead to bad breath, tooth loss, and infections that affect overall health.

How often should I book my dog in for EMMI-PET teeth cleaning?

Initially, we recommend 1-2 session per week, depending on the severity of plaque and tartar build-up. We will advise you on the best schedule during the consultation appointment.

When should I seek veterinary dental treatment?

For severe cases involving advance plaque and tartar build-up, gum disease, or damaged teeth, you should seek veterinary dental treatment. Professional intervention ensures proper care, including extractions or treatment for infections.

How can I brush my dog’s teeth at home?

Use a dog-specific toothbrush or finger brush. Apply dog-safe toothpaste (never use human toothpaste).

Gently brush in circular motions, focusing on the gumline. Reward your dog for cooperation to build a positive routine.

Can I use human toothpaste for my dog?

No. Human toothpaste contains xylitol and fluoride, which are toxic to dogs. We always use dog-safe toothpaste.

What are signs my dog needs a professional teeth cleaning service?

  1. Bad breath

  2. Discoloured teeth or tartar build-up

  3.  Red or bleeding gums

  4.  Difficulty eating or chewing

  5. Pawing at the mouth

Is anaesthesia necessary during EMMI-PET teeth cleaning?

No, we do not use anaesthesia during EMMI-PET treatments. EMMI-PET is a great maintenance teeth-cleaning option that is safe, non-invasive, silent, and vibration-free. It uses high-frequency ultrasonic waves to break down plaque and tartar effectively.

How can I prevent dental problems in my dog?

  1. Brush teeth regularly at home.

  2. Schedule routine professional teeth cleaning.

  3. Monitor your dog’s mouth for any changes.

What if my dog doesn’t get along with other dogs?
